Looks great and was that color when I got it (one of the reasons I got the Elky). My 64 El Camino is Kandy Apple Red (House of Kolor). The way I understand it, each coat of the kandy adds depth and becames darker the heavier you lay it on. Kandy apple red is usually applied over a silver basecoat, then the kandy coat and then the clear. Kandy is a transperant/translucent color (like a tinted clearcoat) applied over a basecoat. Second, as Shovel says, and I have heard from others, kandy paint jobs cannot be touched up and you really cannot repaint a panel and hope to match the rest of the car.

You don't want someone learning how to shoot kandy on your car. First, kandy is difficult to shoot right, not all painters can do it and you have to find someone who is good and experienced with it.
